Waterskiing Santa Will Turn to Alexandria on Dec. 24!
November 29th, 2021
What’s your favorite holiday tradition? For many Alexandria locals, it’s the one-of-a-kind Waterskiing Santa event that takes over the waterfront on Christmas Eve Day. Started in the 1980s by a couple of friends who lost a bet and had to hop on a waterski in a Santa suit, the popular event has now been a staple in the community for over 30 years.
This year, after a one-year hiatus due to COVID, Santa is hitting the water again! The show will begin at 1:00 p.m., so be sure to get there a little bit early to snag a spot with a good vantage point. You can see the show anywhere between Founders Park and Point Lumley Park, so choose a spot that is most convenient for you! After the show, you’ll sometimes get a chance to meet the waterskiing Santas with the little ones at Waterfront Park by the Christmas tree. Happy holidays, friends!
